Situated in the Puisieux plain, in the new city of Cergy-Pontoise, the Lanterne School follows a linear organisation from the principal entrance to the North, to the kindergarten spaces, the primary school classrooms, the restaurant and the accomodation spaces.
The building, both compact and half buried, respects the client’s energy saving requirements. The classrooms open onto glazed patios (buffer spaces of moderate climate). The common spaces (multipurpose spaces, library) constitute the central axis of the building and organise the dense network of classrooms and patios. The introspection of the school provides a certain diversity and richness to the quality of the interior lighting, particularly favourable to a serene teaching environment within the commotion of the new city.
