Facing the confluent of the RhÙne and the SaÙne, the school complex unfolds along the banks of the RhÙne, parallel to the entrance to Gerland Park. It slopes gently from 7 to 3 levels to the South, its curves delimiting the students’ exterior courtyards.
The building’s western face overlooking the river is entirely glazed and consists of an atrium 7 meters high and 300 meters long where stairways, walkways, mezzanines, service blocks and interior gardens are placed. This temperate area is entirely open in the summer due to a system of motorised glass louvers. To the East, the building wraps around the “Centre of Life” which regroups spaces common to the three schools (primary, secondary and high school), a “village” covered by a suspended, planted, steel roof structure.
