Teaching and research building (Marne- la- Vallée, France)

The terrassed roofs of the building gently slope to the south, closely following the urban regulation constraints, whereas the rectangular plan adheres to the imposed alignments. Class rooms and research platforms are organised around an internal street, principal circulation space. The external laminated glass facade is screen printed with random patterns, none-the-less set up so as to control the percentage of opaque surfaces, depending on each facade’s orientation. Storage spaces are situated behind the glass panels thereby creating a thick envelope, “inhabited” by the objects required by the students and professors.
