Student accomodation (Ecully, France)

Intended for the students of a nearby higher education institute, in the residential district to the West of Lyon, these halls of residence are organised into three rectilinear buildings. 180 bedrooms and shared services (meeting room, storage, boiler room), aligned to form a series of terraced houses, are grouped three by three around a double height living space with direct access to the outside. Large translucent awnings protect the facades while sheltering the external circulation spaces. Carried out in 1993, the entire operation boasts an entirely prefabricated metal structure, composite floors and a light weight faÁade alternating between transparent, opaque and screen printed panels.
