The proposed development for the port of Hamburg, which currently associates the city with an image of warehouses, containers and cranes, is of the upmost importance for the development of the city as a whole.
The different programmatic elements (housing, services, tertiary spaces, shops) are laid out so as to create an urban diversity, set within an extremely compact city, marked by canals and harbours dating back to the old port.
The project reinforces the geometry of the ancient city walls proposing a line of 28m high buildings, a cliff along the river Elbe, a rooftop urban park overlooking the ancient city. |
